Our Committee's Activities
Our Directors and what they do..
Club Director: The fun side of Rotaract! Club Service Director is responsible for organising social activities within a meeting and events outside of regular meetings. For our club this has included; Mini golf, BBQs, Tenpin Bowling, Dinners, Parties, Meals at various Restaurants (Mollys, La Pochetta, Luka Bean), Paintball, Magnetic Island weekends and each year our more formal function Changeover Dinner.
Community Director: Forms and develops projects to service the local community. Our club supports multiple charities through a wide range of projects including producing a Charity Calendar, face painting, sausage sizzles, raffle ticket selling, Relay for Life, and assisting other community groups in their projects. Donations of time and money have included commitments to; SES Rollingstone, St Vinnies Youth, Angel Flight NQ, Sids and Kids, Variety Bash, Cromarty Wetlands Fund, Quota Thuringowa, Ulysses Motorcycle club, Townsville Hospital Foundation, among many others.
International Director: Whilst also performing at least one project per annum the international director also aims to find ways and means of promoting international understanding among members. Some events include internationally theme dinner parties, international guest speakers or communications with Rotaract clubs from other countries. Projects conducted have included and AIDs/HIV awareness walk along the strand in conjunction with the Rotaract Club of Johannesburg and the Rotaract Club of San Francisco, donations to Operation Cleft, School of St Judes, and other international non-for-profit organisations.
Professional Development Officer: Develops projects to inform members about businesses, professions and organisations and to continue the development of each individual. The major activity of the professional development officer is to obtain guest speakers from various businesses and to conduct teamwork /public speaking activities within club meetings. Guest Speakers have included representatives from St Vinnies Youth, Angel Flight, Rotary on every level, Youth Exchange Students, Operation Cleft, Cromarty Wetlands Fund etc.
The Rotaract Club of Thuringowa Central has extended our committee to include roles responsible for those projects/ obligations in which we involve ourselves on an annual or yearlong basis:
Membership Development Officer: Seeks to expand our club and invite new people into our group through advertisement and annual membership drives.
Markets Liaison Officer – To mediate between Thuringowa Central Rotary and our members in regards to anything concerning the Willows Rotary Markets. We supply a member every Sunday for an hour to allow the members that will be there all morning to have breakfast out of the heat.
Rotary/Rotaract/Interact Liaison Officer – To strengthen relationships between ourselves and other Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs in district 9550 and essentially throughout the world. This involves attending other clubs meetings around town, ensuring our members are participating in our host rotary clubs events and general correspondence with local Rotary/Rotaract and Interact clubs.
Brij Editor – The Brij (pronounced Bridge) is our clubs newsletter and stands for the notion of supplying a bridge between our members. Loaded on this website so you can read up on current activities!
